LA Beer Week is Upon Us

Hello fellow beer enthusiasts, craft imbibers, and Angelenos.  The time is upon us, LA Beer Week is right around the corner and there are a plethora of amazing events planned.   The official festivities are slated to run from September 19th – 29th, but the reality is that Los Angeles has already started to celebrate.

Rather than list out all of them because, let’s face it, the LA Beer Week website does a great job of that already, I’ve prepared a short list of the ones I’m either most interested in or will be attending with Bierkast & Los Angeles Ale Works.  So what are you waiting for? What: The amazingly beer friendly folks at The Factory in Long Beach have planned an excelent beerfest showcasing some 35+ breweries pouring tasty beer.  This will actually be Los Angeles Ale Work’s very first offical beerfest, which is an exciting day for us.  The Factory has done an excelent job with their gastropub and is a must visit spot in Long Beach.  The fest will include live music, food, and lots and lots of craft b

What: Here’s a great opportunity to experience Joshua Lauries chef driven Food GPS events.  This is the second fried chicken festival and will feature beer from Firestone Walker as well as brilliant chefs from around los angeles.  As you may have guessed, fried chicken is the main event, and this all inclusive event is the perfect opportunity to experience how diverse the chefs in LA are.   These events are focused, memorable, and awesome.

When: September 21st @ 1pm – 4pm
What: Craft Beer Panel and ACB LA Beer Week Debut.  This is the first official LA Beer Bloggers LA Beer Week event.  From 1-2pm craft beer fans and media are encouraged to mingle and network followed by a panel of media professionals who will be moderated by Mr. John Verive of Beer of Tomorrow/LA Times – Daily Dish fame.  Professional development and great questions will be the focus.  Along with the festivities, Angel City Brewery will be debuting their new LA Beer Week beer, a Honey Ale spiced with Chrysanthemum Tea!

The Armando Improv show with Lance Rice 2 (1)The Armando Improv Comedy Show with guest host Lance Rice from the upcoming documentary Lance’s Brewery Tour at iO West

Where: iO West Theatre
When: September 21st @ 9pm – 10:30pm
What:  The inspiring story that took Kickstarter by storm, Lance’s Brewery Tour, is coming to LA.  The kickstarter project organizer Aaron Rice will be doing a show with the brewery tour as the topic.  Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet Lance, the gifted beer man with a photographic memory.  This was a really cool project and this event will be very special.

What: The Opening Event to officially kick off the festivities.  Held in the beautiful union station, only 600 tickets to this event will be available.  Better grab em quick! #LABW5

City Tavern Meet the Local Brewers Night

Where: City Tavern – Culver City
When: September 26th @ 7pm (Beers Specials all week)
What: In addition to the craft beer specials that’ll be happening all week, City Tavern in Culver City is planning a special event with local brewers on September 26th.  There will be 15+ featured breweries taking over the taps along with some tasty food accompanying all the beer.  Los Angeles Ale Works Karma Kolsch, the last keg, will be tapped along with a super special keg of Ladyface Ale Companie/Pipe Dream Brewery Dark Horse Quad.  You do not want to miss this quad.  Kingsley and Brian from Pipe Dream are taking this beer to GABF with Ladyface to enter it into the pro-am.  City Tavern is a great place to experience local beer and they prominantly feature all California taps.  You won’t want to miss this event.

Where: (The Amazing) Smog City
When: September 28th @ 12-8pm
What:  Porter and Laurie will be serving some amazing rare beers from their cellar including a cask.  You don’t want to miss their beers.  Smog City is a fantastic brewery located in Torrance and is currently making some of the best beer in LA.  Get a designated driver and make them drive you so you can enjoy the entire line-up.  A food truck will also be available to fill your stomach.

*Side Note: Smog City is also teaming up with the South Bay brewers to do a cask night at Tin Roof Bistro.  It should be awesome. If you haven’t tried a cask ale, this is a great opportunity.  Event Info Here!
