Orange County Brew Ha Ha

The one beer event that I have been looking forward to the most is just a week away. This is the third year for the OC Brew Ha Ha and it looks like they just keep getting better and better. This year it will take place in the beautiful Oak Canyon Private Park in Silverado near Irvine Lake. Over 70 different breweries will there, pouring beer to help support the Orange County Fallen Firefighters Relief Fund.
I know there are a lot of choices when it comes to beer festivals and this is the time of year for it, but if you can only attend one event, this is the one to be at. There will over 175 different craft beers to try and most of them from the Southern California area. The official press release can be found here.

The event starts on Saturday September 8th at high noon for those that purchased VIP tickets and 1:00pm for those that didn’t. I highly encourage spending the extra money for the VIP ticket. Last year one of the benefits of having a VIP pass was getting in to hear “Dr. Bill” from Stone Brewing talk about the current state of the craft beer movement. He also blessed us with a generous sample of beer that he personally selected. Another benefit of the VIP ticket is an additional four samples.

Last year the brewers made arrangements to set up the night before and it turned into an impromptu party and campout. This year you can actually purchase tickets to the campout. You will need to hurry if you plan to purchase tickets. The sale ends Friday at 1:00pm or when they run out of spots. The campout includes a BBQ dinner, beer, a band, cigar smoking and breakfast in the morning. Bierkast will be there, I just purchased ticket. Look for the Weekender camper with a silver Ford F-150, stop by and say hi. Campout ticket can be purchased here.

Please visit the website for additional details. The crowds increase as it gets later in the day. The early bird gets the beer. Do not expect to be able to drive home after this event. Please consider taking a designated driver or arrange for transportation. I was in no condition to drive last year. Hope to see you there.
